TortoiseSVN allows you to manage files in a central repository on a file server, check the history of changes to the file and make changes if necessary. There's 3rd-party software which allows to search SVN repositories (I tested none of them myself.): Use "svn ls url" for the repository root, and then pipe the output through "grep" or a similar tool.
